The mission of Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (NGTE) is to build strength of character and a foundation for success through tennis and education. Our goal is to ensure each of our kids is on a path towards success on the court, in the classroom and in life. Our programming was developed based on our theory of change: Engage underserved children in Norwalk through tennis, offer a safe and welcoming family environment, and provide them comprehensive support to meet their academic, physical, and social-emotional needs. This helps build a foundation that enables them to graduate high school prepared for college and/or a career, putting them on a path toward greater opportunity and success.

Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education
Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (NGTE), founded in 1995 by Art Goldblatt, has grown from working with 25 youth to touching the lives of 475 kids in 2016. Our growth has been steady as we respond to the expanding needs of our children and adjust to the evolution of the community. As we worked with more children through tennis over the years, we realized they had significant needs off the court that weren’t being met, driving the shift in our programming to include educational support. In early 2015, we opened our first youth center in South Norwalk and hired a part time Education Coordinator. In January 2016, we officially changed our name to Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (previously Norwalk Grassroots Tennis) to demonstrate our focus on both tennis and education as a unique strategy to meet the needs of our children.
