Operation Pathways and Bayview The NHP Foundation’s (NHPF) nationally-acclaimed, research-based programs and services, Operation Pathways, help participants develop skills vital to break the cycle of poverty, enhance the vitality of neighborhoods, and improve the quality of residents’ lives. Operation Pathways is a division of NHPF and has 18 communities providing programs and services across the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, each working with its own independent operating budget. Among them is The Bayview Towers Community Center, which is part of a 200 unit apartment complex for low to moderate income families, is located in downtown Stamford Connecticut. Residents in NHPF housing communities have access to a wide variety of educational, health, and enrichment programming through NHPF’s own Operation Pathways. Site-based resident services coordinators (RSCs) serve as both the program directors for the site and partnership manager. Operation Pathways utilizes community partners to help facilitate programs and services at NHPF properties to aid in achieving its goals. As a result, Operation Pathways is able to build strong and vibrant communities. Operation Pathways develops programming that strives to be of high interest and fully motivational to allow individuals to choose participation. Authentic positive outcomes occur when participants themselves have chosen the pathway to advance and enrich their own lives. There are 3 pathways: 1.) Pathway to Academic Achievement focuses on the educational needs of residents. Operation Pathways promotes academic success and lifelong learning as a means to break the cycle of poverty. 2.) Pathway to Healthy Living promotes activities and lifestyles that lead to physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing for individuals and communities. 3.) Pathway to Financial Stability educates participants in sound financial practices to increase income, decrease expenses, and build assets. This also encompasses job search, resume and cover letter writing, computer skills.
