Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut
The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC) is dedicated to improving the mental and behavioral health of children and teens through treatment, education, and community support. Founded in 1954, our staff is comprised of highly-trained mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers who specialize in assessing and treating the needs of young people, ages birth to 18, and their families. With office locations in Stamford, Greenwich and Darien (which also serves New Canaan residents), CGC provides comprehensive in-office and off-site services, as well as mobile emergency crisis intervention 365 days a year, for families regardless of their ability to pay. Children referred to CGC struggle with a range challenges, such as depression, anxiety, academic functioning problems, bullying, self harm (cutting), suicidal thoughts/attempts, and trauma due to physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. Using a child-centered, family-focused, approach, our programs serve children struggling with a range of challenges, such as depression, anxiety, and developmental delays. We are committed to enhancing access to evidence-based treatments in our communities, to include: Mobile Crisis Intervention Services, Child and Family Therapy, Child First, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, System of Care, Child Advocacy Center, Community Emergency Response, and Community Education and Consultation Services.
