The Maritime Aquarium
The Maritime Aquarium is one of the largest attractions in Connecticut; certainly the largest in Fairfield County. In focusing on Long Island Sound and its watershed, the Aquarium displays sharks, seals, sea turtles, river otters, jellyfish and hundreds of other animals. The Aquarium also boasts the state's largest IMAX movie theater, with a screen that is six stories high. Volunteers are crucial to the Aquarium's operation, as they interpret exhibits at the seals, Touch Tank, Shark & Ray Touch Pool and other locations.
