What we are looking for:
The Rowan Center is a sexual assault resource agency located in Stamford. We are always looking for volunteers to help answer calls on our 24-hour crisis hotline. In order to qualify to take calls on the hotline, individuals must complete a 40-hour crisis intervention and sexual violence awareness training. Volunteers sign up for shifts according to their own availability, and are trained on how to answer phone calls and act as advocates to support victims in hospitals and police stations. Volunteers must meet the following requirements: Must be 18+ Must have a car (in case of hospital or police call) Must live within 45 minutes of our service areas (Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, New Canaan, Darien, Weston, Wilton, Westport) Volunteers will also be asked to submit a $35 training and background check fee.
