School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc.
What we are looking for:
Math tutors work one-on-one or with small groups of elementary and middle school students helping them with such things as telling time, money skills, computation and problem solving. Volunteers do not have to be math experts but simply help the students under the guidance of the teachers. The Tutor Coordinator in the School Volunteer Office will provide help and materials to get new tutors started. Reading skills are important for success in math, so these tutors may give a book per month to each of their students. Books are provided by the School Volunteer Association. A commitment of one hour a week is ideal for this position.
