On Saturday, June 17th the Stamford Mentoring Collaborative hosted a park clean up event at Mill River Park in Stamford. 32 mentors and mentees from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, Women's Mentoring Network, First Light Project, Domus, the Mayor's Multicultural Council of Stamford and the UCONN PEP program volunteered to clean up the park. Volunteers worked in groups and weeded the large grass area. Everyone worked hard, got to know each other and had a great time. A few sporadic rain bursts didn't seem to bother anyone, the hard work continued for over 2 hours. After volunteering we headed to the playgroup area to let the kids play and have a pizza lunch. It was a great morning that promoted teamwork, collaboration, and community service. We look forward to the next event.
