On Friday, October 5th, 26 volunteers from the Financial Accounting Foundation, Financial Accounting Standards Board, and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board gathered at Veteran's Park in Norwalk, CT for a park clean-up. The group split up into teams of 4 people equipped with gloves, garbages bags and trash pickers crafted by the husband of a team member.
The teams spent two hours collecting trash and improving the condition of the park. They had a great time and enjoyed being outside in the beautiful fall weather to help out their local community. The Parks Department was so grateful to the volunteers for helping to keep the park a clean place for people to enjoy!
Volunteer Square had the pleasure of helping to coordinate this event with the Community Outreach, and Activities Team at FAF, FASB, & GASB. We also helped their team coordinate a day of service at Domus on June 29th where they transitioned the school building into space for summer camp. As well as our first project together in April when the COAT organized a survival supply drive for the mobile health unit run by Norwalk Community Health Center.
The Community Outreach and Activities Team is comprised of employees from FAF, FASB, & GASB. They work hard to find meaningful and thoughtful volunteer opportunities to offer employees through a survey each year. The team then chooses 3-4 projects annually that employees will participate in based on survey feedback. It's important to the company that they offer their employees the opportunity to give back to the local community and participate in activities that make a great impact on the agencies they work with. We love working with them!
We look forward to our continued work with the employees of FAF, FASB, & GASB and to more exciting volunteer projects. We are thrilled to work with several local companies to help them strengthen or start employees volunteer programs.
