Balancing School with Community Service

School is back in session and it's a busy time of year for young people. Students are busy with homework, projects, and preparing to complete the service hours required by their school. Volunteer agencies and schools are supportive of student volunteers and will be flexible to accommodate their schedules. The key for students to making this work is balance and creativity. We put together a list of a few things to get your started and hopefully help to set you up for a successful year of school and service. To find an opportunity at a Connecticut nonprofit agency, visit to sign up for free custom e-alerts to get you started. September Volunteer of the Month

Earl Moran believes that volunteering changes your view of the world. Nominated by LifeBridge Community Services, Earl’s whole career has been spent working for non-profits and volunteering. Presently, he is the Global Head of Child Sponsorship for Save the Children and also volunteers as a Tutor at LifeBridge. We are thrilled to honor Earl as our September Volunteer of the Month and share his story.

P2P Social Returns

With summer coming to an end, those social calendars are probably slowing down. Looking for a way to stay social throughout the year and make a difference in your community at the same time? If the answer is YES, P2P Social is the event for you!

Entering its 5th year, P2P Social returns on September 11th. Co-sponsored by Volunteer Square and Darien based Person to Person, the event is every Monday during the school year, from 6pm – 8pm. This is a perfect opportunity for adults who want to give back to their communities, but don’t have time during the day. Volunteers will sort and display clothing donations, network and share resources, all while enjoying nibbles and drinks. Bring your friends and join us for some fun on Monday nights! Person-to-Person is located at 1864 Post Road, Darien CT. For more information about P2P Social or other Connecticut volunteer opportunities visit us at

“Giving Back” has never been so easy. “Making a Difference” has never been so enjoyable.

Person-to-Person is a community-supported agency that provides emergency assistance for basic needs, and support for individuals and families as they move towards stability. Through their work they are transforming lives and building a stronger community.
