Become a Volunteer Square Intern

This fall we kicked off our inaugural high school internship program for sophomores, juniors, and seniors from Fairfield County high schools. In an effort to expand opportunities for young people and build stronger volunteer communities in Fairfield County, the program provides interns with training and hands-on experience with digital marketing, social media, website maintenance and community relations. Interns become volunteer ambassadors in their schools, area towns and most importantly their peer groups. They represent Volunteer Square throughout Fairfield County at local nonprofit events as well as on our website and social media channels.

We have three fantastic interns from Trumbull High School that have been representing Volunteer Square across Fairfield County since September. One of the many things they've accomplished as part of their internship is to create town specific pages on the website. Each page is managed by a high school intern and features blogs, photos, and information about events happening in the specific town. This is a great way for young people to have a voice and speak directly to their peer groups to encourage involvement.

Holiday Volunteer Traditions

The holiday season is a time to celebrate traditions.  Traditions have many benefits, they help us stay connected to family and friends, teach practical skills and values, create memories and strengthen bonds. This season is a great time to start a volunteer tradition with our family, book club, faith community or school if you don't have one already. Make a difference in your community, while also spending time with people you care about and having fun doing it.

People from all over the East Coast, have shared their stories with us about their holiday volunteer traditions through our Share ONE, Give ONE campaign and we love reading these inspirational memories. We are thrilled to start the Volunteer Square team tradition of giving back one hour for every submission we receive. Please help us by sharing something y
ou do with your family, school or faith group or something you do on your own each year at the holidays. We really want to know and promise to pay it forward by donating 1 hour of service per story to a nonprofit organization that needs volunteers.
