We build partnerships with grassroots health, education, and environmental projects around the world, and connect them with volunteers, donors, and classrooms that can learn from and support their work. We invite people of all ages and origins to browse our free database and connect directly with our international Partners. Rather than offer guided volunteer trips, we enable volunteers to communicate with our Partners and with each other to determine when, how, and where they can serve. We also help volunteers share teaching resources and manage travel logistics. We do not sell volunteer “programs” that involve fixed dates and require formal applications. Instead, our site enables you to connect with Omprakash Partners that can benefit from your help, and then we let the Partner determine if, when, and how you can serve them. In order for us to help you, you need to browse through our free database and identify a few specific Partners that inspire you. Our Partners do not ask Volunteers to pay any “administrative fees,” but the cost of transportation, food, and lodging will vary from one location to another. Users can connect with other volunteers to read stories, view media, share resources, and learn about how to have a safe and meaningful volunteer experience. We offer funding to aspiring volunteers who need help paying for travel and living expenses. Our Volunteer Grant program is open to individuals of all ages and nationalities. The program is competitive and seeks to empower entrepreneurial individuals who demonstrate a deep understanding of our mission and a serious commitment to making a long-term contribution to our Partners and our broader network of Volunteers and classrooms.
Omprakash is built on the idea that positive social change must begin with human relationships. Our primary goal is fundamentally educational: by forging connections within our network, we want to “lead out” the citizens of the world towards an awareness of the human and ecological community from which they are indivisible and within which they can enact change. This process helps our diverse international Partners obtain needed volunteers and material resources, and it empowers everyone involved to become more conscious participants in processes of social transformation.
