About Stamford Museum & Nature Center
The Stamford Museum & Nature Center, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, serves as a resource for Stamford families and those in surrounding communities. Our 118 acre grounds contain hiking trails and the “Wheels in the Woods” universally accessible trail, a working farm, galleries, a playground, picnic areas, organic garden, maple sugar house, planetarium, and an observatory. We offer educational programming both on- and off-site. The proceeds from SM&NC’s special events, such as family festival days and annual wine tasting, directly support our educational programs.
Mission Statement
The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of art, the natural and agricultural sciences, and history. The Museum is a vital cultural and educational resource for the community, and a focal point for family activity and interaction. We seek to inspire creativity, foster self-discovery, promote environmental stewardship, and nurture an appreciation for lifelong learning through exhibits, educational programs, and special events that enhance the visitor's experience of our unique site.
